If you wonder whether or not drone deliveries will ever come to your neighborhood, you can stop dreaming. Alphabet, a Google’s subsidiary, just performed their first real drone delivery in Christianburg, VA. The 14-propellered drone known as ‘Wing’ delivered goods from FedEx and Walgreens that included medication, gifts, and snacks by remaining in hover mode and lowering the package via cable. Wing drones have the capability to travel within about a 6-mile radius with packages weighing up to just under 3 pounds. Alphabet wants to make it the norm in America and cut down on the number of delivery trucks hauling ass to make quota. Right now, they’re doing deliveries only in Christianburg and can deploy within minutes of order placement. Look for Wing drone deliveries to expand if all goes well.
