With 65nm of torque, a top speed of 75 mph and a maximum range just under 175 miles, the Vectrix VX-1 scooter is certainly a capable electric vehicle, but we find the design to be a little humdrum. When French designer and builder Samuel Aguiar got his hands on one he turned it into something different and stunning with his Hope concept. As Aguiar explained, “I was looking for a design that you would want to hug, without any aggressive shapes. Like a blend between a pre-A Porsche 356, an iPhone and a Pokémon.” That ultimately led him to the retro-future style of Hope that’s sleek yet grounded in reality. Getting to this point meant taking the functional bits of the donor bike and wrapping it in custom fiberglass panels and aluminum plates to create the ergonomic and functional final product you see here. Aquiar also moved the gauges to a stoplight style configuration, built a two-piece handlebar setup and swapped out the wheels for larger 17″ options with the front coming from a Suzuki GSF and the rear being a custom, three-part aluminum design mated to the final drive. This is one helluva concept bike.
