Furia Concept Bicycle

Conceived of by London-based Industrial Designer Francesco Manocchio, the Furia Concept Bicycle serves as a bold prediction of what’s possible when you throw traditional design to the wind. If it’s not immediately apparent, the award-winning Furia (“Eccellenze del Design nel Lazio” from ADI Italy) uses composite materials, a striking design and hub-center steering. Hub-center steering is by no means a new concept–it was invented in the early 1900’s–but it’s mostly been used for motorcycles and front rack cargo bikes as opposed to performance bicycles. As opposed to the traditional forks you’re used to, hub-center steering separates steering, braking and suspension functions for a more comfortable ride across rough terrain. In addition to being a new application of that technology, the Furia also uses carbon fiber composite and 3D-printed materials for the frame and wheel construction, which would ultimately lead to an extremely lightweight bike if the concept were to ever go into production.
