The latest bike in the Yamahas Yard Build series from Deus Ex Machina is this beefy yet stripped down XJR1300. Dubbed ‘The Project X’, the bike was inspired by racers from the late 1970s and early 1980s that were lean and designed to solely win races. With that in mind, the guys removed weight wherever they could and left the 1251cc air-cooled engine as the focal point. To add some muscle to the pared-down ride, Deus Ex Machina gave it some wider bars and hand-fashioned some sheet aluminum for parts of the body. The “X” on the headlamp is an especially nice touch.
