Outback Logic made waves a couple years ago with the Siesta4, the first heat- and light-blocking tent with built-in fans. The team is back with the Siesta2, a more compact and lightweight version of the original that’s designed for two people. The Siesta2 weighs under 5 pounds and measures 6″ x 18″ when it’s packed down, so it’s a great tent option when you’re going on long treks. From the base of 20D nylon to the aluminum poles and YKK zippers, the Siesta2 uses high end materials to make sure that this tent is going to last you through multiple seasons. But the most impressive aspect of the tent has to be the heat and light block fly fabric that the team worked on for more than a year. Using 20D ripstop nylon as a base, they experimented with a new structure of high performance coatings to create a material that reflects and blocks ultraviolet, visible and infrared light. In other words, you can actually use your tent in direct sunlight without having to worry about it being a sauna.
