8 New Apps You Should Know

Instead of wading through the massive amount of new app releases searching for a few diamonds in the rough, just let us be your guide. This is a collection of our favorite new apps for both iOS and Android for your downloading pleasure.

Adidas All Day

Adidas’ long awaited fitness app All Day has finally been released, and it’s everything we hoped for. Unlike other fitness apps focused on one specific type of exercise, All Day is a more holistic wellness package that includes workout plans for strength training, running and yoga along with healthy recipes, nutritional and hydration goals, wellness and mindfulness exercises, and even sleep playlists specifically created to help you hit the hay faster and stay there longer. iOS | Android

Holo is a new augmented reality app that allows you to place a variety of different holograms into real life situations through the lens of your phone screen. Once you find the perfect real world canvas for your situation, drop in a wrestler, monkey, zombie, Spider-Man, or giant tiger before recording video or snapping photos to share with your friends and family. Until the full ARKit drops with the official release of iOS 11, this is one of the coolest AR apps you’ll be able to get on your phone. iOS | Android

Adobe Scan

From Photoshop Touch to Lightroom, Adobe has released quite a few apps to tackle all your imaging needs. And now they want to help you with documents by turning the camera you’re already carrying around into a power portable scanner that, unlike most of the other options on the market, actually works. Adobe Scan intelligently capture your receipts, notes, contracts, business cards and whiteboards without borders, sharpens the content and even uses OCR to automatically recognized text. It’s like having a full-fledged scanner in your pocket at all times. iOS | Android

A Planet of Mine

If you’ve spent any amount of time playing video games you’ve probably played at least one 4X genre strategy game. A Planet of Mine is the latest “explore, expand, exploit and exterminate” game designed to put you in the driver’s seat of an entire planet while you mine, build, strategize and dominate. With different game modes, diverse species and AI-controlled opponents, the pocket-friendly A Planet of Mine will really test your world domination mettle. iOS | Android

Enlight Photofox

Enlight is easily one of our favorite photo editing apps on the market—and one of most well-designed apps of 2017—so it should come as no surprise that its sequel, Enlight Photofox, is just as awesome. In addition to standard editing features like cut and paste, filtering and light adjustments you’ll also have the ability to draw, type or doodle on your images, mask with tools and quick brushes, and even combine and re-edit with the Photoshop-style layer system. It is built on a subscription model, but if you do a lot of editing on your phone, it’s worth it. iOS

Built by Sam Soffes, the man behind Nothing Magical, Inc., a company that’s worked on other popular apps like Hipstamatic and Over, Redacted does exactly what the name implies—allows you to redact or censor your personal information. When you want to hide faces or sensitive information before sharing your screenshots or pictures far and wide you have three different options: pixelate, blur or black bar. Is it an app you’re going to use every day? Probably not. But when you do need to censor private stuff it will definitely come in handy. iOS

Airport Sherpa

Trying to finish that last little bit of work before getting on a flight and don’t have time for a real meal? Don’t feel like hoofing it all the way to another terminal to get what you really want? Airport Sherpa is here to pickup your food, snacks, drinks, magazines or duty free goods and deliver them directly to you at your gate. You can even pre-order your items for pickup if you don’t want to wait in a long line. The app that’s basically Postmates for the airport is currently live at Baltimore Washington International airport with plans to roll out to more airports soon. iOS

Keeping yourself on track when it comes to reaching your goals can be easier said than done, but it doesn’t have to be with Purp. This to-do list and goal tracking app allows you to create larger tasks you want to get done that are made up of smaller, more feasible steps that you can accomplish individually. As you complete each of the smaller steps you’ll get updates on the larger task with percentages, graphs, time numbers and days left til deadline. Whether you’re working on your finances, health, skills or personal growth, Purp is an app that will help you along the way. iOS
