Back when MP3 players were relatively new, a wave of portable music systems came out capitalizing on the trend. These little plastic things ran off a couple of batteries, or perhaps just a big wound up rubber band, and could be toted to the beach, the tailgate, or anywhere that could benefit from some tunes. Unfortunately, they were so cheap that they sounded terrible. The Beat Box system, developed by some dude named Dr. Dre, is the antithesis of this. Solid construction around high-quality speakers that produce robust bass and clear midrange, and great highs. Not THOSE kind of highs. Though Dr. Dre would probably approve that too.
