They might do luxury with absolutely no compromise, but Rolls-Royce has also never been a brand to shy away from accolades and performance achievements. Which brings us to the new ACCEL plane, an all-electric plane that–if Rolls-Royce has their way–will crush the 300 mph barrier and make a run for the record books in 2020. As they put it, “The plane is part of a Rolls-Royce initiative called ACCEL – short for “Accelerating the Electrification of Flight” and is a key part of Rolls-Royce’s strategy to champion electrification.” In practice, that means a zero-emissions aircraft with lower-RPM propeller blades and a power system with unheard of power efficiency (better than Formula 1) that all contribute to help push this also incredibly stylish plane over the threshold into potential record-breaking craft. We await the results of the speed run next year with baited breath.
