We’ve long imagined the first hovercraft to look like a sleek, futuristic pod, something at home in a sci-fi movie from the ’50s. This image completely throws out everything we love about beautiful cars–elegant lines, aggressive front ends, and a sense of refinement. Lazzarini Design Studio wants us to reimagine the hovercraft as something rooted in automotive history. The Hover Coupe is the company’s concept for a hovercraft that blends retro style with futuristic power. Able to move like a drone, the Hover Coupe is a relatively compact vehicle at 14 feet in length. Stealing design elements from Isotta Fraschini, an Italian automotive brand, the Hover Coupe looks like what would happen if a sketch from Back to the Future had a baby with a 1920s luxury vehicle.
