Alex Earle is a California-based designer working at Volkswagen/Audi who needed a design project of his own on the side–that’s when Earle Motors was born. Earle Motors is best known for their custom Ducati bikes like the Alaskan, Alaskan Jr. and now, the Desert Raider. The bikes that bear the Earle Motors name aren’t just retro-styled mods with modern equipment that don’t do much more than go fast and look pretty–these are purpose built adventure bikes designed for the rough terrain of the Alaskan wilderness or, in this case, the desert. The Desert Raider started as a 2018 Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled before being given the full Earle Motors treatment which included: their signature swing-arm extender, Big Wheel kit, long-range tanks, Kevlar skid plate and custom crash bars, Scotts Performance steering stabilizer, Baja Designs yellow-lensed headlight, Termignoni high exhaust system and a custom carbon speedometer among other things. If you want a bike that looks as good standing still as it performs on the loose desert terrain, this is it.
