It makes sense that the Museum of Modern Art was the first U.S. museum to have a photography department, as, in the history of art, it’s a rather new medium. Now, in an effort to clear space and raise a few (read: lots of) dollars, MoMA is selling off over 400 photographs. That means you can have an actual Man Ray on your wall, not a print you found online or in that weird poster section of IKEA. For sale through Christie’s, the photos range in price from about $80K to $300K, so, yeah, not exactly cheap. Still, if you want to hang a legit Ansel Adams on your wall, this is the time to act.
