Spend a Night in the Last Remaining Blockbuster on the Planet

Spend a Night in the Last Remaining Blockbuster on the Planet

If you happen to be 20+ years old, you probably remember the sense of sheer wonderment and excitement you got from a trip to the local Blockbuster movie store. With their near endless selection of movies, TV shows, video games and snacks–this was all well before Netlix, Prime Video, Hulu, Twitch, Steam and Postmates, mind you–Blockbuster was the place to start your weekend. After all these years, Internet streaming services and delivery options, there’s only one Blockbuster left in Bend, Oregon. The last Blockbuster has their own beer, and now it’s also available for rent on Airbnb. Host / GM Sandi Harding puts it like this–“As the last standing location in the world, our Blockbuster store is an ode to movie magic, simpler times and the sense of community that could once be found in Blockbuster locations around the world. Over the past few months, we’ve been missing the regular visits from friends, neighbors and tourists from around the world. So, we’re opening our store to three quarantine pods of Deschutes County guests for a socially distanced movie night, just like those of decades past!” We’re all for it. Better yet, stays in the last remaining Blockbuster on Earth start at just $4/night for you and four friends, but space is limited because, well, there’s only one left.
