We’ve seen quite a few impressive options from Porsche roll across the auction block over the years, but nothing like this 2007 Porsche RS Spyder that Gooding & Company will sell later this year. Chassis 9R6.706 is a bare carbon beauty that’s hard to take your eyes off, in addition to being one of the most successful prototype racing cars in Porsche history. It’s the last of six RS Spyders built for the 2007 racing season. It’s the first one that’s ever been offered at public auction. It hits 10,000 rpm and produces almost 500 hp with ease because of the 3.4-liter four-cam V-8. And despite the fact it’s competed in, and won, some incredibly historic events, the current owner describes it as an “extremely exciting and remarkably user-friendly prototype racing car,” partially because you don’t need an entire team of people to operate it. The 2007 Porsche RS Spyder will cross the block during the Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auctions in August of this year.
