When it comes to the purchase of cutting-edge yachts of all shapes and sizes, it’s the playground of the billionaire’s club. Sheiks, industry magnates and tech powerhouses are the names most commonly associated with superyachts and megayachts. Earlier this week, it was reported that Bill Gates and/or the foundation was attached to the purchase of a $645million superyacht concept called Aqua. This is factually incorrect, but not all that hard to believe given Gates commitment to alternative energy and the fact that the recently debuted Aqua is hydrogen-powered and capable of doing London to New York without a refill. Even without Gates attached it’s still an interesting vessel outside of the water-producing engine. The 370 foot ship includes a total of 5 decks with enough space for 31 crew and 14 guests in all the trappings of luxury you’d expect from something of this size and with its price tag. The Aqua concept yacht is still under development, but Sinot “invites any visionary client to show their interest!” which generally means if the price is right, it’s for sale.
