This Range Rover County Classic Is Powered by a BMW V12

We’ve seen quite a few, let’s call them “interesting,” listings pop up over the years on the Bring a Trailer auction site. The 1969 Ford Bronco with a Mustang engine will always be one of our favorites, but this 1991 Range Rover County Classic with a BMW V12 is up there as well. That’s right, this relatively unassuming Rover has a 5.0L M70 V12 from a 1992 BMW 750iL crammed under the hood that originally put out 300 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque when new. That powerplant is mated to a rebuilt ZFHP22 4-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range locking transfer case from a Defender D90. In terms of additional upgrades, it also has Old Man Emu springs and shocks, custom bell housing and flexplate, Yokohama-wrapped aftermarket wheels and a dual exhaust. Things get even more Frankenstein-y on the inside, with Recaro seats reupholstered in tan leather, wood accents, a 3-gauge pod in the console and an infotainment system on the dash that has absolutely no business being there. It definitely needs a lot of work, but with a relatively solid exterior and good bones, this could be the project car you’ve been looking for if you want to piss off your neighbors.
