There’s no denying the fact that the Ford GT40 is one of the most incredible and influential automobiles to have ever been produced–even if you don’t consider the entirety of its racing pedigree. In case you haven’t already seen FORD v FERRARI (watch it immediately), the GT40 was originally built as Detroit’s first race car with only one goal in mind–to absolutely crush Ferrari at Le Mans. Ford initially built five different prototypes in the UK for the 1964 season–chassis GT/101 – GT/105–that would all be extensively tested, developed and raced in order to make the end goal of beating Ferrari possible. The car you see here is Ford GT40 Prototype GT/105, and it’s for sale. That’s right, one of only five prototypes of the most iconic American cars ever produced is for sale. You have to inquire with Duncan Hamilton ROFGO if you’re interested in purchasing the car, but we have a feeling the sticker price is going to be in at least the handful of millions given the price the rest of these old school Ford GT40s have sold for.
