Most folks don’t know that Ford almost bought Ferrari way back when. Enzo changed his mind, and that really pissed off Henry Ford II to the point where he wanted to hurt them in a big way. That’s when Ford decided to go after them where the wound would do the most damage, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s most grueling automotive endurance race. FORD v FERRARI is a movie based on the legendary GT40 race car that beat Ferrari at its own game at the 1966 race. Matt Damon plays the famous and recently deceased Caroll Shelby, the man who took over the GT40 build, and Christian Bale plays Ken Miles, the British driver who would help bring the GT40 MkII to victory at Le Mans. In fact, the GT40 MkII nabbed the entire 1-2-3 podium finishes, much to Ferraris everlasting shame. The movie is directed by Logan and Walk the Line filmmaker James Mangold, so we have high expectations for a great automotive history and biopic. The film opens nationwide November 15th.
