Harley-Davidson has been a household name for as long as we can remember. They’ve produced an incredible amount of bikes in the century plus they’ve been around, but few of them are as special as the 1915 Harley-Davidson 11K Board Track Racer you see here. The first example of a purpose-built racer from the brand, the 11K was built with a highly tuned motor with open breather ports in the cylinders, a flat-out racing Schebler carb and absolutely no brakes, gears, or suspension. We’re not going to say it’s a rolling deathtrap that’s essentially two wheels, a gas tank and a frame with a Harley engine mated to it, but yeah, it’s not exactly safe. It also happens to be so incredibly well maintained and restored that it won the 2017 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance for Most Outstanding Machine. Unfortunately, given the pedigree of this particular vehicle it’s going to sell for significantly more than it’s original $300 price tag. In order to find out exactly how much, or to bid on it yourself, you’re going to have to check out the Mecum Monterey auction at the end of August.
