NOWLAB is the innovation lab and consultancy division of BigRep, the developer of the world’s largest serial production 3D printers. The teams have worked with partners ranging from Bosch to Deutsche Bahn to Etihad Airways to create some of the most advanced, innovative and mind-blowing things you’ll ever see in the world of 3D printing. The latest creation, the NERA e-bike, is described as “the world’s first fully 3D printed e-motorbike.” That said, there does need to be a little bit of clarification. The electronic components themselves are not 3D printed for obvious reasons, but the frame, fork, seat and even the wheel/tire package all came off the line of cutting-edge printers doing things we didn’t think possible. It has airless tires, forkless steering and a flexible bumper, which makes the NERA one of the most advanced and futuristic bikes we’ve ever seen—even if it’s only a proof of concept that will likely never see real road use.
