The Mustang Mach 40 Is Part ’69 Mach 1 and Part GT 40

There’s little wrong with the Mach 1 of the late ’60s—unless you’re trying to save money on gas—but the mad auto scientists at Eckert’s Rod & Custom wanted to play around a bit with one to see what they could pull off. Namely, they wanted to take a ’69 Mustang Mach 1 and drop in pieces from a 2006 GT 40 supercar to bring an old muscle car into the modern era. Holy hell, did they succeed. Meet the Mustang Mach 40. Inside, you’ll find a 5.4-liter supercharged dual overhead cam mid-engine. Yes, we said “mid-engine.” You’ll find that sucker in the backseat. A dial inside lets you adjust horsepower from 600 to 850, both of which sound like pretty nice options.
