Mercedes-Benz X-Class Pickup Truck

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Pickup Truck

For all the glitz and glam that Mercedes-Benz has become associated with over the years, it’s worth remembering the brand has deep roots in the world of heavy-duty commercial vehicles. With the unveil of the X-Class pickup, they’re blending a little of that brawn with a bit of that beauty. Two versions of the concept truck—which, currently, is only slated for release in Europe and South America—were shown to an audience at an event in Stockholm on Tuesday, and the X-Class that hits the market should look like a blend of the two. The “Powerful Explorer,” which is a more rugged, off-road ready Mercedes, and the “Stylish Adventurer,” a slightly sleeker truck, give you a pretty good idea of what the X-Class will look like when it hits foreign showrooms late next year. With a V6 diesel, a payload capacity of 1.1 tons, and a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, the X-Class has some serious chops. Whether we’ll ever get to see those chops stateside, however, remains to be seen.
