Mazda RX-10 Vision Longtail Concept

It might be incredibly hard to believe, but the latest iteration of a car built around Mazda’s renowned rotary engine–the Mazda RX-8–ceased production almost a decade ago in 2012. It’s successor has been teased for ages, but nothing has yet to materialize from the Blue Oval-backed brand in the meantime. That’s where the Mazda RX-10 Vision Longtail Concept from Mitsubishi designer Maximilian Schneider comes in. Schneider imagined Mazda’s latest iteration of the mid-engine, rotary-powered, pseudo-supercar as a low profile, side-to-side performance beast that combines equal parts Acura NSX with 787B Le Mans race car. As for performance, Schneider sees the vehicle with a 2.3 liter turbocharged ICE coupled to a pair of electric front wheel motors for a combined 1,030 horsepower and top speed of 265 MPH. Will any of that performance ever see the light of day in a low-slung, super-wide package like what you see here? We can only hope.
