Thrilling drives in a Lexus are about to get a lot safer thanks to the latest innovation from the automaker—cameras instead of side-view mirrors in the 2019 Lexus ES. The car will keep the familiar stalks on the outside, but the mirror is replaced with a camera that feeds video to 5″ monitors inside the car on the A-pillars. In addition to removing the blind spot, it also improves aerodynamics because of the smaller assembly. All things considered, including records, it’s the first mass-produced car that will do anything of the sort. Unfortunately, this technology has not been approved in the US, so if you want to find out how long it takes to get used to, you’ll have to fly to Japan.
