Tantamount to electrifying a vintage Jaguar E-Type roadster, the Katallis EV.500 aims to make old-school new-school underneath. Rather than making an electric moto that looks like it has teleported to us from the future, the EV.500 uses WWII-style bodywork that mimics the riveted fuselage of propelled fighter jet like the P-51 Mustang. The Jakarta-based company used a dinky Selis Garuda e-scooter and pulled its 500W motor and 48V, 12Ah battery, and stuck them in a 6061 aluminum frame that’s covered by a single riveted body that runs almost the full length of the bike. The vintage look is bolstered by an old-style voltmeter, a fighter-jet-style covered switch for the headlight, and a turn-key starter mechanism. Although it looks like it could barnstorm and dogfight on land, the EV.500 manages just a modest 25 mph top speed and a 25-mile range.
