Recently unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, the new Honda Sports EV Concept is the latest in a line of impressive electrics from the brand and could herald what’s to come in the automaker’s future. It kind of reminds us of the stupidly rare Honda 1300 coupe we’ve dreamed about driving since we were kids, which should come as no surprise because the Honda Urban EV Concept unveiled a month ago gave us the same kind of feeling except in relation to a 70s Civic hatch. In other words, Honda is taking cues from their design past and using them as inspiration to create futuristic electric vehicles that would be perfectly at home in the worlds of Isaac Asimov or Philip K. Dick. Outside of the looks department, information is scarce. It will be an electric two-seater that pairs EV performance with Honda’s Automated Network Assistant AI (including the “emotion engine” feature that gauges driver feelings and adjusts accordingly) and, unfortunately, will probably never go into production, because we’re still at a point where electric cars are green over fun to drive, stupidly expensive or have waiting lists as long as your arm. But here’s hoping!
