BMW finally released details about its Vision iNEXT Concept Crossover. As expected, it’s filled with all the future tech you’d expect. Autonomous driving. Hyper-connectivity. Intelligent personal assistant. Electric drivetrain. Zero emissions. Smart seating. Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management at the BMW Group, said, “The iNEXT project will provide our building blocks for the future, from which the entire company and all of its brands are set to benefit.” As a concept, and a future design direction, we can get behind almost all of this—especially when it includes the option to drive it yourself if you want and suicide doors without a B-pillar. The one that absolutely needs to change is the grill, which, apologies for doing this to you because it can’t be unseen, looks like Bugs Bunny’s teeth. With that said, the Vision iNEXT is definitely a concept car, but a vehicle based on the concept and bearing the BMW iNEXT name will be headed to production in 2021. Will that model have all the future tech BMW alluded to and, hopefully, a revised grill? Only time will tell.
