Lazareth ‘Back to the Future’ Cafe Racer

Lazareth ‘Back to the Future’ Cafe Racer

If the Lazareth Yamaha R1 “Back to the Future” Cafe Racer looks familiar, it’s because it began life as one of the futuristic motorcycles in Babylon A.D. about ten years ago. The movie was terrible, but hot damn did Lazareth do some really great work when it came to the futuristic bikes. With the restrictions for build design and cost removed, the mad Frenchman Ludovic Lazareth set about further transforming the 1999 Yamaha YZF R1 until he created the futuristic cafe racer of his dreams. That meant an extensive modification list including: a complete carbon fiber treatment, single-sided swing-arms on both the front and the rear, custom fenders, shortened rear end, extended exhaust with built in LED taillights and bits from TFX suspension, Brembo, and Rizoma. The bike has a decidedly futuristic look that evokes transforming robots or guns that isn’t for everyone, but there’s no other bike that will look quite as good sitting in your garage next to your Lazareth Wazuma V8F Matte Edition quad / Ferrari / BMW crossover.
