A few years ago, the teams at Jaguar Land Rover announced that they would be reviving classic vehicles themselves as part of their “Reborn” program. They tackled dozens of classics like the Jaguar Series 1 E-Type, the Range Rover Classic and the Land Rover Series I. All of those vehicles were spoken for immediately, but a very special Land Rover Series 1 is now available for auction through RM Sotheby’s. Any vehicle meticulously restored by the manufacturer at the spiritual home of Solihull as part of the “Land Rover Reborn” program would be drool-worthy, but this particular 1950 Land Rover Series 1 is “Car Zero,” the very first Land Rover restored as part of the program. It’s been restored and rebuilt in the original livery with Bronze Green pain and period-correct green vinyl upholstery–along with original gauges, hardware and the correct 1.6-liter 55bhp engine under the hood. It’s an incredible vehicle that would be a welcome addition to any garage.
