Much like vinyl and tube amps, there’s just something warm and nostalgic about old school glass Nixie tubes displaying the time that makes clocks made with them a whole lot more interesting than the standard hands and face. Unfortunately, the decades old technology only displays one color, they’re no longer in production and they have a finite lifespan. If only there were a version of the Nixie tube clock that was updated with modern technology. Enter the Gixie Clock. Dreamt up by a group of students from China, Gixie replaces the traditional Nixie tubes with updated RGB LED options that have millions of color options, last longer and use less power. The walnut base with aluminum casing (in black silver or red) and six individual tubes on top retains all the vintage style and steampunk flair of the original while updating all the technology inside so you don’t need to worry about buying fragile glass tubes from Eastern Europe.
