Ai Weiwei, the world-renowned artist and activist, has teamed up with the Public Art Fund, New York City’s premier presenter of contemporary outdoor art, to put on a unique, 300+ site exhibition this fall that will span all five boroughs. The exhibition is called “Good Fences Make Good Neighbors” and will be supported by two special edition pieces from Weiwei that are representative of some of his most influential pieces. “Artist’s Hand” is a rhodium-plated cast of the artist’s middle finger flipping off whatever you set it in front of, which is reminiscent of his Study of Perspective series where he traveled the world flipping off famous landmarks. “Odyssey” is a 24″ x 36″ print that depicts the global refugee condition in the style of a Greco-Roman frieze. Ai Weiwei’s two pieces will be available in limited quantities exclusively on eBay from October 17 – 27. The special edition pieces will start at $100, so it represents one of the best times to add a piece of iconic art to your place at a fraction of the cost if would normally be.
