At the intersection of 3D-printing, scientific data and insanely detailed art you’ll find London-based Little Planet Factory. As you might have guessed by their name, they produce 3D-printed planets, moons and full solar systems that are tiny enough to fit on your desk or in the palm of your hand. Each Little Planet Factory globe starts as a high-res digital master model that is downloaded to a printer that creates your perfect globe from the bottom up, layer by layer until the color and geometry are spot on. Once each seamless and perfectly scaled model is created it’s manually inspected before getting a hand-applied layer of protective coating. Whether you’re looking for a Tiny Alpha Centauri, a Solar System in a Bottle, Venus & Cloud Cover or a version of what Mars could look like Terraformed, there’s at least one piece from Little Planet Factory that will look great in your space.
