Even though UFC and hard to pronounce Russian names seem to have crushed the popularity of boxing, one thing the sport has going for it is the ability to make for kick-ass movies. Mixed martial arts has nothing on Rocky, Raging Bull and now, The Fighter. The Oscar nominated movie about brothers Micky and Dicky (still fun to say) is about way more than boxing, but just like other great boxing flicks the sport plays an integral role in making the movie a must see for an red-blooded guy. It also features two guys we’ve come to trust with selecting quality movies – Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg (sans The Happening). The only thing we can think of that would have improved the movie was making the title bout against Ivan Drago (but clearly he was in a different weight class and a fictional character).
