We’ve all contemplated going a little Travis Bickle at one point or another in our lives. Unfortunately, it’s in the same vein as being a rock star. You might be able to get hit five stars on expert and star in short films but you’re never going to be DeNiro or Jimmy Page. That doesn’t mean Scorsese’s epic career launching Taxi Driver can’t be appreciated. Steve Schapiro, Taxi Driver is one of best ways you will find. Schapiro is a photographer who has had work published in every major magazine (Time, Life, People, Sports Illustrated, you get the idea) and worked on Taxi Driver. During this time he accumulated a huge amount of photos and is releasing them now (for the first time) in book form. 95% of the work is unseen, it’s hardcover (and boxed), limited to 1,000 copies, has a foreword by Scorsese, and is signed by Schapiro.
