When it comes to coolers, I find it’s worth investing in a few for each specific scenario. A hard-shell behemoth for camping, a single bottle cooler for dinner parties, a soft-shell beach cooler. Well, the Wooly Cooler, which just launched on Kickstarter, is ideal for picnics in the park. Milwaukee-based Wool Street had been building concepts for a versatile, eco-friendly cooler and they’ve nailed it with Wooly. This fully recyclable wool-insulated cooler features sustainable materials like an aluminum outershell, stainless steel interior, bamboo handles, and an ingenious tacklebox-style lid that doubles as a cutting board/meal tray. Inside, the Wooly can hold up to 52 quarts (roughly 78 12-oz cans without ice) and will retain ice for up to 3 days thanks to its biodegradable, sheep wool insulation. The entire cooler is 100% plastic-free and looks good to boot. While we might not lug the Wooly on long camping trips, it’s perfect for backyard hangs or trips to the park. Break out the wine, some beer, and a plate of charcuterie and you’ll be good to go. The Wooly Cooler is expected to retail at around $300 but it’s currently available to back for a limited Early Bird special of $175.
