Oru Kayak started when designer and founder Anton Willis had to put his fiberglass kayak into storage. Sketches, models and prototypes led to the successful launch of their first origami style, folding kayak on Kickstarter in 2012. They’re back with new models, the Coast and Coast+, that are 16′ long and engineered for rough water and multi-day trips. Each Coast kayak is made with a double-layered polypropylene skin and folds down to fit into a 32″ long, 28″ tall and 15″ wide box that you can carry on the bus, check on an airplane or throw in the trunk of your car. The 31lb (Coast) and 34lb (Coast+) kayaks assemble from box to functional boat in around ten minutes and come with an 18 month warranty.
