At this point, the only place you can be safe and actually enjoy your surroundings is the great outdoors. One of the best ways to enjoy the world outside is from a kayak. Forget the rentals and the large ones that require a special roof rack for transport because the Fina Foldable Kayak Prototype is going to change the way you get out on the water. Conceived of by industrial designer Cristina Borràs after a trip to visit her sister in Venice, Italy, this kayak was created to allow the two of them to have a “wonderful little boat to sail the canals together” while also being able to accommodate the lack of storage at her place in Venice. The end result is a plywood construction, five-meter kayak that collapses down into only two-meters long by effectively splitting the boat in half with clever construction and origami-like folding precision. It’s as gorgeous as it is functional, and we hope it sees production some time in the near future.
