Decades ago, when tin was the “standard of toughness,” Filson oil finished cloth earned the name Tin Cloth because of its durability and the abrasion and wind resistance properties. Obviously it’s a super durable material–we wouldn’t expect anything less from the centuries old outfitter–but the new Heavy Tin Cloth these bags are made of is twice as burly as the original cloth that was its namesake. Each of the totes, duffles and briefcases in the collection is made with a combination of 25.5oz oil finish Heavy Tin and 15oz oil finish Tin Cloth in black, olive or brown and finished with bridle leather handles, brass zippers and snap-closure storm flaps. They’re not cheap, but they will literally be passed down for generations to come.
