American football is easily the most popular sport in this country, but the sport we call soccer and everyone else calls football is significantly more popular with 265 million players worldwide (which is about 4% of the world’s population for the record). Japanese design house Nendo continues their history of re-imagining the basic and everyday–we’re talking about the Skeleton Cutlery, Hybrid Kame Suitcase and the like–with their My Football Kit Concept. Most of you reading this grew up kicking around an inflatable ball into opposing goals, but this new Nendo option is a soccer ball that is unlike any other out there. For starters, it’s shipped flatpack and can be assembled from its 54 component parts–like a piece of IKEA furniture!–into a fully functional ball that never needs to be inflated or re-inflated, won’t pop and can easily be repaired by replacing broken components. What’s more, with this kind of modular construction, you will be able to interchange colored pieces to create a unique ball design.
