Ever since we started following his work, there’s nothing that has come out of Joey Ruiter’s studio that is anything less than exceptional. Whether it’s a bike, buggy, boat or snowmobile, if it bears the Ruiter name, you can be assured it’s going to have a wild design far outside the norm that includes more than a few sharp corners and angles. Case in point–the Joey Ruiter NOMOTO Concept Motorcycle you see here. At first glance, it kind of looks like a high school drinking fountain connected to an air conditioner, but that’s all part of the charm. This vehicle is as much about being a motorcycle with concealed features as it is about blending into its surroundings. As Ruiter puts it, “I wanted to create a piece that is museum-worthy that’s completely unnoticeable and so familiar, you’re just going to walk past it.” Looks like any other graffiti-covered piece of hardware on the street, but when you push a button, it rises up to expose the wheels, the panel hiding the bars slides down and a seat pops out from the back so you can ride away in retro-future style.
