When it comes to campers, we’ve long since graduated from pop-ups you pull behind your truck and enormous RVs that aren’t off-road capable and impossible to park. When it comes to the campers we want to travel the world in, we want it all–style, substance, capability, durability and everything else. That’s why the Matzker MDX Land Rover Defender Expedition Camper is one of the best options out there. For starters, it’s a modified Land Rover built by Matzker, one of those most renowned aftermarket Land Rover parts producers out there, so it checks all the boxes for style and competency. It’s powered by a turbodiesel 2.2-liter outputting 120 horsepower which doesn’t seem like a lot until you factor in that you’re driving essentially a full-size camper with beds, couches, pop-up roof, kitchenette, and toilet. Increased ride height, a relatively impressive 21 mpg fuel rating and a 64 gallon tank also mean it’s capable of tackling your next safari without worrying about running out of gas. This particular Matzker MDX Land Rover Defender Expedition Camper was a one-off build for a client, but since they sell all the parts separately, we’re sure they’d build you one of your own if the price is right.
