Coco Chanel once said, “Mode passes; style remains,” referring to fashion’s fleeting nature versus classic style. While that may be true, it’s hard to stem the tide of modern activewear fusing with what we’ve known as casual work wear. Now, Porsche Design (no relation to the automaker) and Puma have joined forces in full acknowledgment that the trend is here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future. Jan Becker, CEO of Porsche Design, himself said, “If I go to the office, nobody wears a tie anymore.” The younger generation is always on the go and wants to be both comfortable and stylish with minimal to no transition between work and play. The collaboration toes the line between work and play by employing transitional pieces with dedicated workout apparel. The result is clean, stylish outfits with restrained design and solid colors. The collab uses Puma’s tech such as NRGY beads in footwear and EvoKnit textile on higher end pieces. It’s Porsche Design’s more muted look that helps elevate Puma to sophisticated urban style. Look for future collections stemming from this fresh and smart partnership.
