You won’t find Bloomin’ Onions and Aussie-Tizers in the real Outback; you’ll find a whole lot of nothing. The real Outback is vast and vacant. In other words, it’s ideal for an off-the-grid retreat, which is why a client of Modscape, a design firm, had this cabin built. Crafted from salvaged iron, the cabin is designed to not stand out or attract attention while it goes unused. The goal was to craft something that felt like it wasn’t even there. No loud colors. Not extravagant embellishments. The client wanted Modscape to build a structure that blended in. Of course, that all changes when you step inside, as you’ll find sleek lines, contemporary fixtures, and clean white walls. For power and heat, there’s a solar system and a wood-burning fireplace. We probably can’t stay there, but this is the kind of off-the-grid living we sometimes desire.
