On the east coast of England you’ll find North Norfolk, which is home to the rural workshop of ridiculously talented knife maker James Freakley and his brand, Creek Cutler. There isn’t a knife in the bunch we wouldn’t love to own, but these are our favorite because these knives are made from re-purposed files. Using scrap metalworking files and farrier’s rasps made of carbon steel, Creek Cutler creates a unique, personal and custom knife with a blade shape ranging from paring to Santoku. The scrap material is forged, heat treated again, ground and turned into a fine piece of cutlery that still retains the original character of the tool it was in a previous life, as evidenced by the scaling on the handle. Each knife is handmade to order with an expected delivery time of about two and a half months. After seeing these knives it’s safe to say that they’re worth the wait.
