Designed to give wearers the ability to create their own personal space in an urban environment, David Shatz’s Melina is a backpack that transforms into a single person tent using a clever accordion-style folding mechanism. Details about the project are scarce, but we do know that it was produced “under the guidance of designer Tal Gor, as part of the hospitality studio in the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem” and that it’s not currently for sale. From what we can tell, it appears to be constructed with a metal frame, leather bindings and canvas, but no word yet on whether or not you’ll ever be able to take it into the wilderness or to a music festival.
