Remember the Weiss Watch Company Field Watch we told you about last year? It looked like this, and was one of the best mechanical watches we’d ever seen–especially at under a grand and made in the US. Weiss is back with two new Standard Issue Field Watches, and they’re even better than the ones we saw from them last time. Outside of the different faces (one is black with white markings, the other is white with black markings), the watches are both the same: Weiss Caliber 1001 mechanical movement, manual wind, 42mm 316L stainless case, sapphire crystals, machined naval brass dial, Super-Luminova painted hands and a 20mm olive green band made of Cordura lined canvas. That’s all great, but it’s just as important that Weiss is the only watchmaker in the US designing, engineering and manufacturing their own cases and dials, along with hand-finishing each movement.
