In the early 1940s, the US and Germany started working (separately, obviously) on surface-to-air missiles in order to destroy aircraft and other missiles. Somehow, the good people at Nixon thought that was a fitting name for their newest watch and so The Sam was born. It’s military inspired in terms of design cues and influence and features a 3-hand Japanese quartz movement and a canvas with Horween leather band. On some level the hands do kind of look like missiles, but the name still doesn’t seem all that fitting to us. It might have a bit of a ridiculous name, but at one point people thought Coca Cola was ridiculous too. Look how that turned out.
