Historic Babe Ruth 1923 Yankees World Series Gruen Pocket Watch

This Gruen pocket watch presented to the Babe after the Yankees won the 1923 World Series. Everyone thought the watch was lost, but it recently turned up… for auction. It should come as no surprise that “the most significant article of New York Yankees memorabilia that exists” is going to fetch a pretty penny at auction. Hell, the current bid is at least a few year’s salary. Buying it is out of the question for most of us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t ogle it in the meantime. The five-sided Gruen Verithin pocket watch is made of 14-carat gold and what is purportedly a Swiss movement. The watch also has three engravings: one for the man, one for the brand and one for Babe’s friend Charles Schwefel (who got the watch prior to the Great Bambino’s passing).
