We’ve taken a few hot air balloon rides in our lives, and they have always been a great experience. But even with the heights they elevate you to, you won’t get to space–the final frontier. Unless, of course, you’re riding in the PriestmanGoode x Space Perspective ‘Project Neptune’ balloon. This recently unveiled, high-performance balloon is a collaborative project from PriestmanGoode and Space Perspective that includes a pressurized capsule designed and built to fly passengers and research payloads from the planet’s surface to the edge of space as early as the beginning of 2021. Yes, you read that correctly. This incredible piloted–you didn’t think you could get to space by yourself, did you?–space vehicle will elevate up to 8 passengers and other research gear to the edge of space and back to the Earth’s surface, safely, in just six hours. Part incredible travel experience, part research mission and part insane adventure, Project Neptune is scheduled to take flight from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in early 2021.
