‘Inside the Indy 500 of Lawnmower Racing’

‘Inside the Indy 500 of Lawnmower Racing’

Almost half a century ago at a pub in England, a bunch of blokes decided to bring motorsports to the people by creating an entirely new racing circuit that was as accessible as it ridiculous–that’s when lawn mower racing was really born. These days, the British Lawn Mower Racing Association holds a 12-hour race that’s akin to the 24 Hours of Le Mans except the drivers are not-strapped to run-of-the-mill mowers that have been modified to hit top speeds of up to 50mph which makes the entire process even more dangerous than its big brother that runs twice as long. Check out the Great Big Story video Inside the Indy 500 of Lawnmower Races when you have 10 minutes of free time because it’s equal parts high-octane racing, underdog story and all around madness.
