A Fictive Flight Above Real Mars

A Fictive Flight Above Real Mars

Using anaglyph images of Mars taken by the HiRISE camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter as a starting point, Finnish photographer/inventor/designer/director/artist Jan Fröjdman set about creating a three dimensional rendering titled A Fictive Flight Above Real Mars. It’s mesmerizing, breathtaking, astonishing and mind-blowing. Fröjdman is quick to point out that “this film isn’t scientific” and is more of a space enthusiast’s vision of what a trip over Mars, looking down, would be like from a topographical perspective. With more than 33,000 reference points and three months of work turning them into this gorgeous film, we don’t care if he feels it isn’t scientific, because it’s downright awesome. Check out more of his work on the AV-CREO site.
